Welcome to visitors to our parish.  New parishioners please complete a census form in the porch. If you are leaving Falkirk, or changing address, please let us know at the parish house.  Tea/coffee are in the hall after every 10 a.m. Mass.

TODAY is the 7th Sunday of Ordinary Time - the Readings are on page 139 of the Parish Mass book. 

Feasts of the Week WEDNESDAY is ASH WEDNESDAY which marks the beginning of LENT and is a day of fasting for those aged 21 to 59 and a day of abstinence from meat for all over the age of 14.  Lenten Calendars for children are on sale for 50p –please get one for your child - for young people and adults we will have the very popular Lenten daily prayer booklets (£1)  SCIAF boxes are available at the back of the church and should be returned by Holy Thursday.  A Foretaste of Heaven This small book (available for £2.50 in the stall) will be used throughout the Archdiocese during Lent to help us continue our deepening understanding of the mystery of the Mass.  It can be used on one’s own, but we shall have groups meeting to reflect on this on the Thursdays of Lent at St Anthony’s from 8 to 9 p.m. and here on Saturdays from 10.45 to 11.45 a.m.  In particular all readers and communion ministers are recommended to use this for their formation and to attend at least some of the group meetings.

Lenten Station Mass for our area will be celebrated by the cardinal here on Wednesday 7 March at 7.30 p.m.  The theme for this year is the Eucharist and there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament that day from 12 noon ending with a Holy Hour from 6 to 7 p.m.  This period of Exposition will this year replace the traditional Quarant’Ore.  NB  There will be no 7 nor 10 a.m. Masses that day.

RCIA meets on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. in the church house.

Fairtrade Fortnight  This year's joint Fairtrade coffee morning ( St Francis Xavier's, Falkirk Old, Quakers,Erskine and Christchurch parishes) will be in Falkirk Old and St Modan's Church Hall (opposite M&S) on Saturday 3rd March from 10.00 am -1.00 pm. Donations of baking will be very welcome. Please contact Terri (01324556051). Entry by donation at the door.

BIBLE STUDY GROUP meets on Tuesday at 7.30 pm in the church house. All welcome – just bring a bible!

Sacramental Initiation of Children  The retreat for parents and their children has been changed to Sunday11 March  from 12.30 to 2.30 p.m. in the hall. Please bring a packed lunch.

First Confession  A 2nd meeting for parents will be held on Wednesday 29 February at 7.30 p.m. in the hall.

Pilgrimage to Fatima/Salamanca  There will be a meeting on Sunday 4 March at 8 p.m. in the hall for all going on this trip.

RACE NIGHT  Iona McGill an Altar server at 12 noon  Mass and a 4th year pupil at St Mungo’s  is going to India to work with disabled children in aid of Project India  in the summer. To help raise funds please come along to the Race Night on Friday 23rd March at 7.30 pm  in the hall. Tickets £3 –Call 01324  628522 or 07896983921 or after 12 noon mass on Sundays. Bring your own bottle! If you can’t attend you can buy a horse or sponsor a race!

Visit of German choir from Schuren, Germany a group of Lutheran Christians will visit Falkirk  Monday 9th – 16th April.  We have been asked to provide B&B + some evening meals for up to 12 people –if  interested please put your name on the sheet in the porch.

WYD 2013 Fr Anthony is interested in taking a group of young people from our parish to the next World Youth Day in July 2013. This will take place in Brazil and Fr Neil Crombie is happy to host us during our time there. This could be a unique opportunity to see Fr Neil’s work and to grow in faith with millions of young Catholics from all over the world. If you are interested and would like to know more please speak to Fr. Anthony over the next couple of weeks. You will need to be 18 at time of travel.  

Glimpses into Genesis  Fr James Crampsey SJ will lead 5 sessions on Mondays from 1.30 to 2.30 p.m. beginning on Monday 27 February in the sacred Heart Hall, Laurieston Street, Edinburgh

Hospital Visitation Please inform the clergy if you are admitted to hospital and wish the Sacraments during your stay. The chaplains to Forth Valley Royal Hospital are Fr. Patrick Boylan (823310) and Fr. Kevin Dow (812417).  If you are to receive major surgery, it is recommended that you receive the Sacrament of Anointing prior to admission. If anyone has become housebound and would like Communion at home, please speak to one of the priests.

Legion of Mary meets on Mondays in the church house at 6.30pm.  New members always welcome! Anyone interested who can spare a few hours each week and wants to find out more about our work is most welcome to join us. Please call 832135 for more information.

Padre Pio Prayer Group meets on the first Friday of each month at 6 p.m. in the sacristy.  All welcome.
